Who Are We?
Kym Beliveau - Owner and Director
Kym Beliveau became the new owner and director of Queensland Seed Technology Laboratory on February 1st 2017. Kym began her seed testing career at Agritech in Toowoomba in 1991 after finishing at the local university USQ. The lab changed ownership many times over the years finishing with SGS which relocated to Brisbane in 2013. This gave Kym the opportunity to start her own lab, Australian Seed Labs, and keep providing her customers with the same seed testing service that they had always received. She has extensive experience in all aspects of seed testing across all species.
Ms Antonia (Toni) Romeo - Laboratory Manager and Senior Seed Analyst
Toni is the laboratory manager and senior seed analyst at QSTL and has been involved in seed testing for 20 years. She holds a Bachelor of Applied Science from UQ as well as a Certificate of Proficiency in Seed Testing (2009). Toni is a personal ISTA member (AUGL0203) who has attended two ISTA workshops; one in Argentina in 2008 on Tropical Forage and Native Seed Testing and another in New Zealand in 2012 for the Seed Quality Assurance Workshop. Her specialisms are seed identification, purity, germination, tetrazolium and vigour testing; in particular native and tropical species.
Mrs Helen Lister - Seed Analyst
Helen has former experience with Research and Specialist Services Seed Department in Zimbabwe and Tissue Culture Experience with Dole and Clonal Solutions Mareeba, Australia. She was a grain and pulse inspector at SGS and now works as a seed analyst at QSTL. Her specialisms include seed germination and seed vigour testing on a wide range of species. Helen has nine years of seed experience and is currently enrolled for the Certificate of Proficiency in Seed Testing programme at QSTL. Specialisms include seed germination and seed vigour testing on a wide range of species.
Miss Alex Earl - Seed Analyst and Sampling Training Officer
Alex has attained a Bachelor of Agricultural Science Honours through the University of Queensland Gatton campus. She has completed her Certificate of Accreditation in Seed Sampling and is now a qualified seed analyst and sampling trainer.
Mrs Wilma Smith
Wilma has experience in germination testing of vast majority of the species tested in the laboratory
